When you apply for the credit card, the most annoying thing is waiting to get it in hands. The time gap between sending your papers to the actual receipt of the card is normally six weeks. You can reduce some of this delay by applying the card online.

If you search on the Internet, you will find almost all major card issuers are prepared to accept your application on-line. Once you submit your details, they will process your application within a very short time (of about sixty seconds) and will let you know whether you are approved or not instantly.

The question here is – Is it a real approval? Can you get the card that quickly? Well, you can certainly save a lot of time in the initial paperwork. However, credit card companies cannot take instant decisions. Once you apply on-line, they will quickly check most of the details submitted by you to find out whether your application fulfills basic criteria. They will also access your credit report to find out whether there are any adverse remarks in it. Remember, if there is a small mistake in your application, it may result in denial of your request.

However the approval given on-line is always a conditional approval. It means the card issuer will still make a detailed analysis of your credit report before the final approval. As this analysis will be done manually, it will take some time. They may also cross verify some of your details. Then there is a process of actually printing the card with your name on it and sending it to you by mail. They do not have any technology so far to send you the card on-line! It will take its normal time.

Another important thing while applying for an instant approval credit card is – the terms on which the card is issued. All such on-line offers will be kept standard or subdued without any lucrative rewards or attractive rates of interest. So in a hurry to get the credit card, you may compromise many benefits which you would have been otherwise eligible for. The fine print in the terms and conditions, including high annual fees may not be favorable to you.

One more dangerous thing about such credit cards is – you give the card issuer an authority to access your credit report. If for any reason your application is not approved, there will be a negative entry on your credit report and your credit score will also be hurt.

You should not apply for such instant approval credit cards in a hurry, just to save time. You may get by mail some special offers which will be much better. If by saving just a few days you are required to accept something unwanted, it is not really worth the hassle.

Credit cards have become a part of life. It’s a great feeling to have them in your wallet. It gives you a feeling of financial power. Usually it takes a very long time to get it since you apply. There is a quick option now – you can submit your details on-line and get your application approved instantly. But is it so attractive? Chintamani Abhyankar offers straightforward advice.

Credit card legislation that goes into effect next summer will put a crimp in the ways banks can earn a profit. Your credit card company may be looking for ways to increase their profits before the new limits cut their options. One of the easiest and fastest ways is by increasing the fees.

One of your options to avoid higher fees is to transfer your balance to a lower APR card. But with transaction fees up to 5% of the transferred amount, the initial cost of the transfer may make the transfer futile. The concept of bargaining with your local auto dealer is easily to understand, what many people may not know is that they can negotiate with card companies. So before you go searching for a better deal, perhaps you should consider negotiating for lower rates.

If you must resort to a balance transfer
, speak to the potential card issuer for a lower transfer fee. You may be approved for a lower credit card rate because of the vast amount of competition, especially for consumers with excellent credit.

But, before you make contact, do your homework by researching the company. Always comparison shop and read the fine print; be prepared to tell of the offers you’ve found. Be pleasant but don’t show too much enthusiasm. Open your conversation by saying, “I’d love to take advantage of the balance transfer offer, but the fee is just too much. I’m requesting that you waive the whole fee.”

Your chances for approval will be higher when you mention your many years of loyalty to the company and your record of on-time payments. If you use a large amount of credit, remind them of how much business you were worth in the previous year – the company gets a percentage of every one of your purchases. If your request for a fee-waiver is denied, ask that the fee be capped at something you think is reasonable — say $50, or even $100, which is a lot better than 3% of a large balance.

When you get a great credit card offer, it may be worth taking a moment to call the company to see if there is anything else they can do, quite often there is. This is especially true with new customers, who are given special perks, like the introductory low APR deals or no-fee balance transfers. Become an informed negotiator by understanding current terms and comparison shop. For example, you may be offered a credit card with a 2.9% APR and an uncapped transfer fee but another at 3.9% APR may be available with a cap of $75.

If you’re transferring a large sum of money or expecting to carry the balance for a while, knowing your options opens up opportunities to use credit more to your advantage. Understanding the variables and fine print really matters. Watch for grace periods and late-fee policies before you move your debt to a new company, and carefully calculate if you really will be saving and how many months it will take you to pay it off. Those who pay attention to the details and are willing to fight over them will come out ahead.

They use credit cards to eat out, buy cigarettes, buy their groceries, to pay for repairs, or to tip a haircutter. The result is that all these business owners are forced to have the facility to accept credit cards
if they do not want to lose clientele. So, some form of provision for credit card processing has become a must for people even in small businesses.

Credit card processing works by the synchronized action of different agents, or parties, who have entered into different types of contracts for transacting money
without handling cash. First of these is the card issuing network which will consist of well known corporations like MasterCard Worldwide or Visa Inc. which have the power to issue credit cards and debit cards and authorize financial transactions
.

The next connecting link of the credit card processing network is the card issuer, which is the financial organization that has issued that particular brand of card to the credit card holder. The third participant is the merchant who runs the business and is ready to accept credit cards payments from the customer in return for goods or services that have been rendered.

After this is the merchant service, which may be a bank or an independent financial organization, that does the job of credit card processing for the merchant. They process the card and pay the money into the merchant’s account after subtracting the fee owed to them for providing that service. And closing the network is the credit card holder who is in a way the most important link in the money transaction network. It is to suit his convenience that merchants need to have the facility to accept credit cards. And it is him that the card issuing organizations woo to keep their business going.

When the customers pay for the purchase and the merchants accept credit cards, the transaction details are instantly passed on to the merchant services with which the merchant has entered into an agreement for credit card processing. The merchant services verify the validity of the card and other transaction details instantly and authorize the transaction. Once his merchant services, which provide him credit card processing services, approve the transaction, the merchant stores the details together with other credit card transactions of the day. The entire collection is later send to the merchant services. This is generally done at the end of each day, though there could sometimes be slight variations of timing during weekends or holidays.

The merchant services send the collection through the card issuing network which credits the amount to the merchant services after debiting the card issuers an amount as charges. The credit card processing cycle ends when the merchant services receive the money and send it to the merchant. The amount the merchant receives will be the amount the customers have paid minus the fee that he owes the merchant services for credit card processing.

Lenders are much more concerned about the ratio of debt to available credit than to how many cards you use. Here we show several more good reasons why it’s a good idea to use more than one credit card: in cases of emergencies, online security benefits, earn faster rewards, maintain the value of older accounts and personal financial benefits.

Multiple Cards for Emergencies
For emergencies, keep an open, unused credit card available, stored in a safe-deposit box or other safe place outside your home, in case of a house fire or theft.

And when venturing out of your own country for travel or business, remember that is can pose unforeseen problems that may involve a language barrier, cultural differences, money exchange issues and technical glitches. Be sure to have more than one credit card on you when you travel. This will help in emergencies where you are unable to pay for purchases with a card that is denied or when a card company puts your account on hold because they’re suspicious of your travel activity.

Online Security Benefits
Designate one specific credit card that is only used for online purchases. This will allow you to monitor all the card activity, recognize fraudulent purchases and help put a stop to identity theft attempts before extensive damage can be done. When more than one credit card is used for Internet shopping, it’s harder to spot unauthorized purchases.

Bigger Cash or Points Rewards
Many reward cards offer bonuses for purchasing specific types of merchandise or for shopping at designated merchants. By using more than one type of reward credit card, you can earn the maximum payback by using the card that will earn the most reward for each specific purchase. Many reward cards have a maximum reward limit; by using multiple cards you have more opportunities to maximize your rewards. But always remember that any reward is only an advantage if you pay off the balance each month!

Budget and Taxes Simplified
Using at least two credit cards will help keep work purchases separate from personal purchases. Save the hassle of sorting receipts for employee reimbursement by using one credit card specifically for work purchases. It will also be easier to pinpoint tax deductions when separate cards are used.

Old Accounts Help Sustain Credit Scores
It’s strongly advised that you allow credit accounts in good standing to remain open. Closing accounts may have an adverse affect on your credit score; the impact will be greater for those who have only a few cards.

How can I repair my credit score? This is one of the questions that most individuals who are struggling with debt would ask. These are those who already know about the situation that they are in. They are also the ones who have read and learned about what repairing credit can do to help them regain that good financial reputation. If you are one of them, then most probably you would like to make sure that repairing your credit score would definitely be the answer to your problem.

Debt is the result of one’s incapacity to settle his or her financial obligation because of specific spending activities, emergencies, and many other reasons. If a person would like to work on alleviating this problem immediately, he has got to do something from his end to make the necessary changes that he himself can control. Being one of these people who suffer from financial constraints can be very stressful on your part. To deal with this stress, you have to be open for communication, determined to make settlements, and patient enough to find the right solution to the problem.

If you are thinking that repairing your credit score would be the solution to your problem, then that is a very good move you have there. Many have used this technique and succeeded in living a normal life without any financial burden to take anymore. You’ll just have to know what to do from your end to be able to repair your credit in legal terms.

First, you may have to obtain a copy of your credit report as a reference with regards to your credit history. This would help you keep track of your previous transactions which may have to do with your credit and financial situation today. Most of them have found that they have disputes which may have to do with the negative results posted on their credit report. This they would then have to forward to credit agencies for evaluation and feedback.

The next, move is to find a credit expert to help mediate regarding the negotiation that will happen between you and your creditors. A credit counselor would be able to walk you through the step by step process of handling your financial situation and create a work plan to resolve your issue at the nearest time possible.

Having the right information and being able to talk to the right person regarding this issue would help you a lot in managing your financial problems. Do not hesitate to seek help and ask more information from your creditors. They are most likely the ones experienced with this kind of situation and possibly they would be able to make arrangements with your situation with their company having the right approach.

If you are in debt, the first question that you would be asking yourself is that if you know how to fix credit. This is because not everybody is aware that there is a way to resolve indebtedness, and it just takes some research on the possible ways as well as enough determination to finish what you have started.

It is not that easy to admit that you have spent too much money without even thinking of what the consequences would be on your part. So the first thing that you should do is that you should accept the fact that you are in a serious situation, and you should spend time to exert more effort in resolving the problem.

If you would be asking yourself the question on how to fix credit without researching the right answers to that question, then you wouldn’t be getting anywhere at all. Now that you are in debt, the first thing that you need to look into is on how you will be able to improve your credit score. Improving your credit score would then lead to further success in building a good reputation when it comes to your financial status.

There is nothing more rewarding than bringing back that confidence that you can face your lenders again and open you financial issue for negotiation. You shouldn’t turn back from any financial obligation you have from your creditors, this would only make things worst on your part. Nobody wants to be burdened by this problem for a longer period of time. It is better that you communicate with your creditors and ask them how to fix credit without having to sacrifice what is left of your savings account.

Your creditors are the best resources when it comes to fixing this problem. They already know that such situation occur, so therefore they are the ones who know how to deal with this kind of situation. They can check all options available for your case and suggest what would be the best thing to do from your end and from theirs. Through this both sides would be open for communication and be able to settle things conveniently and appropriately.

If you are not that confident that you can do this all by yourself, you can ask assistance from credit counselors regarding on how to fix credit. They would be able to evaluate on your current financial situation and speak with your creditors for possible settlement and arrangements that can be made regarding your finances. Through this, you would be able to maximize your resources and come up with the best solution to your problem. This time you can reassure yourself that this financial burden will soon be over.

My brother had always insisted on using a debit card the entire time he went through high school and college. I never understood his obsession of avoiding a credit charge. Many times that we would go places and he couldn’t use the debit cards because the company only accepted credit charges.

At times like this, I was often the one who had to pay. I used my credit card to pay and he would pay me back the next day. He always paid me without fail. I always made an online payment as soon as he paid me. I knew he was afraid of bad credit because our parents had that problem and it took them almost 14 years to rebuild their credit.

The weird thing was that when he decided to buy a car, he had trouble getting approval. When he questioned the salesperson, he found that he didn’t have bad credit but that he had no credit history, which was almost as bad. Since he never used any credit cards , he never built any real credit history.

The dealer worked out a loan agreement but the interest rate was too high for my brother’s taste. Just for fun, I asked the salesperson to run my credit and see if I could co-sign for him. To our surprise, the salesperson said I could have any car on the lot right now and at the lowest interest rate. Apparently, all the payments I had made on my credit cards over the last few years had given me a great credit history.

My brother allowed me to co-sign and he no longer pays everything by debit card. He does what I did. He makes a charge, then goes home, and makes an online payment immediately. My brother didn’t build his credit with a debit card, but I sure did!

For perhaps the first time, they can make their own decisions: how long to stay out at night, what type of food they want to eat, what to spend their money on. The problem is- most students have had little experience in managing money, and end up making poor choices when it comes to their finances.

Here are some tips to help you to successfully navigate the tricky financial waters throughout your college years:

1. Start With A Budget

Write down all your monthly and periodic expenses such as tuition, boarding, transportation, food, books, and entertainment. Then make a record of all your sources of income such as allowances, student loans, grants or scholarships, savings, and work. Putting these figures on paper will help you to know if you’ll be on target to meeting your expenses or not. If you discover you will not have enough to meet your expected costs, you’ll have to cut back on spending or find other sources of income. A free college budget planner is available at

2. Track Your Spending

Your actual spending amounts may be very different from your budget. Most people don’t have a clue how much money they really spend until they start recording it. Little purchases such as magazines, bottled water, and fast food all add up. If you’re not careful in the early months, you’ll use up all your money and be forced to dine on crackers and water towards the end of the semester. Track your spending for at least one month to see how your actual money usage tallies with your budget. Make any necessary adjustments to your spending to ensure that you stay on track.

3. Set Spending Limits

There’s going to be a lot of temptation on campus to wear the latest fashion and attend all the hip shows. Many students get into financial difficulties by trying to keep up with the crowd. If your budget says you don’t have the disposable income to go out every night, find creative ways of getting free entertainment. Have your friends bring food and drink and have a party in your own room, or split the cost of renting a DVD instead of heading to the cinema.

4. Make alliances

Team up with friends and roommates in order to save money. You can pool your money to buy wholesale food items or share transportation costs if one of you has a car. Your roommate can decide to buy the microwave while you get the television set, so that you both can share the home comforts.

5. Plan in advance

You may need to put aside money regularly in order to meet a big expense during the school year. For example, if exam fees are due at the end of the semester, it might be easier to save monthly towards the sum, than to find the total amount at one time. If you have plans to do something fun for the summer holidays, defer some of your current entertainment spending to be able to afford it.

6. Be Careful With Cards

If you use a debit card, remember that you could be charged each time you swipe. Try to plan your grocery shopping monthly instead of every day. Don’t keep heading to the ATM daily to get cash- withdraw just enough for the week. If the cash is finished before time, discipline yourself not to go back until the week is up. If you have access to credit cards, remember that you’re spending money that not yours and at some point, you’ll have to pay it back. If you have problems staying in your budget, leave the credit card at home and only use for real emergencies.

7. Learn From Your Experiences

The art of managing money well has to be learned just like any of the subjects in your curriculum. Take advantage of the internet and financial publications to teach yourself how to become financially savvy. However, chances are at some point you’ll make mistakes with your money. Use the experiences you’ve gained on campus as valuable lessons which will help you to graduate with honours in money management.
